  1. 3DS Console Discussion

Thanks for your detailed impressions, @Dcubed :-) Did you previously use an XL or and OG 3DS? I'm thinking got switching from my 3DS XL to a regular N3DS, so I'd be very interested to hear your impressions of adjusting to a smaller screen/form factor. I'm looking forward to having a sharper picture with an increased PPI as the XL's jaggies annoy me, but I don't want to be squinting at a tiny display or having hand cramps from reduced ergonomics! How did you find this?
  2. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

Ha, you'll have plenty of willing people here to take that off your hands! The irony is I was just sent two download codes... for the Tomodachi Freaking Life demo!!!
  3. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

I'd love a code if one of you would be kind enough! :-)
  4. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

    Spoilers be here:
  5. The Wonderful 101

There's five difficulty levels: very easy, easy, normal, hard, 101 hard. The last two levels are unlocked after completing the game, and let you carry over all your accumulated moves etc. from your last play through. I completed it on normal, and found it quite challenging, mainly because I was still learning the mechanics during the majority of my play through. I'd imagine the lower difficulties were somewhat easier...
  6. The Wonderful 101

Agreed. Such a shame that it's often overlooked. To be fair, it doesn't do the best job of explaining its complex mechanics, and it wasn't until I watched a few YouTube videos that I was able to appreciate the complexity of the gameplay myself.
  7. Wii U VC

Have you tried clicking the right-hand analogue stick?
  8. Wii U HDD Buying Options

No problems to report. I've had it for about one week and have used the console quite a lot thanks to MK8! Also downloaded both Pikmin 3 and Arkham City (the latter of which is a hefty 19GB) from the eshop with no problems.
  9. Wii U HDD Buying Options

Yes, but I believe it defaults to the HDD.
  10. Wii U HDD Buying Options

Unfortunately, the save data is grouped with the game download file and update data, and there's no way to separate the them. It's really annoying, as I assumed I could make copies of all my save data files onto my Wii U SSD storage, so if my HDD broke I could simply re-download the games and copy over my old save data from the Wi U SSD. This is not possible – you have to copy the game data as well as the save data. Such a massive oversight.
  11. Wii U HDD Buying Options

This is the exact same hard drive I'm using with my Wii U at present. Seems to be working fine for me (I've had it for about a week) and I've purchased all my Wii U games digitally. Can't say I've encountered any sort of 2min sleep mode that one review talks about, perhaps they weren't using a Y-cable, which you'll definitely need if you do buy this drive: like this Unfortunately you can't use partitioned drives with the Wii U
  12. Mario Kart 8

I just got the thunder item in 2nd place. 2nd place.
  13. Mario Kart 8

If memory serves, the original was quite claustrophobic (in a good way), whereas this one is wide and open? Melody Park was already a great track in my view, so I don't think the lack of new elements diminishes its quality. Although some anti-grav sections would have certainly been nice (such as when on the keyboard corners)!
  14. General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Didn't expect MK 8 to do this well. I'm surprised it beat the PS3 and 360 versions of Watch Dogs, what with their large install base. Congrats Ninty!
  15. Mario Kart 8

Well, this is a pretty damn fantastic Mario Kart! The Wario Mountain track is my current favourite, but there aren't really any bad tracks. However, I felt the new rainbow road couldn't top the MK7 version. Also agree with the general consensus re the mini map — it actually gives the Gamepad player an advantage in split-screen multiplayer. Here's hoping they patch in the option to display it on-screen.
