  1. Super Mario 64!

My mate invited me over as his dad as picked up a 64 on launch, and him letting me have a go at racing koopa the quick on Bob-omb Battlefield blew my young mind! I had become quite jaded with gaming since my mega drive had lost its lustre, but Mazza got me back into gaming and haven't left it since :) I completed that game 5 times in a row without playing another game when I finally picked up a 64 two years later, got it on launch on the Wii VC (was like another new game to go along with Zelda TP) and would play that game for the rest of my gaming life if I had to pick one.

  2. I feel quite out of my depth in the demo, and I love it! Actually looking forward to putting in the man hours so I get to the point where a Lagombi isn't causing me to faint, said to my mate last night I don't want to see him until we have put 100 hours each into it!

Hoping to get involved in the community on here too, I can imagine it's great fun trying to slay some if the bigger beasts as part of a team. Or even just taking out Lagombi would be a start... :)

  3. If games can be put on any console why not put them on the best one that limits the developer the least? Ni No Kuni for instance would have been the same game on the Wii but maybe an eighth as beautiful.

Also your post is quite contradictory - if a console isn't as powerful as its two competitors then it can't 'do' what they do. Which if you look at the Wii, meant it couldn't 'do' most of the multi-format titles the PS3 and 360 did.

Sorry, I meant 'do' as in what features they have specific to the console experience (I guess until we hear what xbox 720 has going on) but like the spectate features, sharing videos etc, which are specific for the ps4, but not a gaming necessity, so feasibly you could 'port' Killzone, but it wouldn't have those features, likewise PS4 wouldn't have Miiverse intergration.

I was mainly an Xbox 360 man last gen, although had a Wii at the start and end of the life cycles, so can't comment too much on what was or wasn't available, but it seemed to me it was more a case of tailoring the controls to Wii rather than anything else. Obviously it was no where near as powerful as Xbox 360 or PS3, but something like Goldeneye 007 for example showed it could 'do' the same games. And you could argue that the xbox 360 and PS3 couldn't do what Wii could with motion control gaming (until the created their own add on's :) ).

Anyway I guess it comes down to personal preference, I prefer to see what features a console can give me, rather than how powerful it is. After all I still enjoy Virtual Console games and loved Spelunky on XBLA!

  4. So how's F-Zero looking for those that have downloaded it? Can't wait to get home tonight and pick it up! Also any one got both the MH3U demo's? Just wondering if they are the same but better graphics (I Hope) or different parts of the game?

  5. The PS Vita is a very neat unit, it's an intelligent way to boost sales of something that deserves to be boosted. It is superior to the 3DS in hardware and therefore doesn't limit game developers as much in the graphics department. It's kinda sad that the inferior unit gets more big hitter support.

Capcom fancy a word regarding Resident Evil Revelations ;)

Seriously though surely it doesn't matter how powerful a console is anymore, more what they can do. I was much more interested in what the console could do (share, spectating etc) than how much grunt it has under the hood, considering judging by the admittedly early demos and gameplay, the leap isn't as big as it used to be.

Still I thought it was a fairly good showing in terms of what the console can do, though having watched it again I stand by my Killzone thoughts, looked generic and some of the physics looked naff.

  6. I've stopped watching now but before I forget did anyone else notice the guy walking down the stairs at the beginning of the killzone demo and think it looked a tad ministry of silly walks? He just sort of bobbed down them in a faintly comedic manner. Or maybe it's just late. Night :)

  7. That killzone demo just did for me, looked generic and was a pretty uninspiring showcase, graphically and gameplay wise. Thought it was going alright til then. Still you do wonder if Randy Pitchford was consulted on some of this hyperbolic chunter, they sure can talk the talk!

  8. I just think it's great that they don't censor you on there, as daft as it sounds. Would be easy for them to remove all the negative and annoyed messages, but they don't, and judging from the 60hz move, it sounds like they actually care about what we say, which I think is great! Feels like we have a voice and direct link to the developers. Wouldn't be suprised to see Sony announce a similar service tonight (if rumours are to be believed), just because it's such a simple concept but great idea!

  9. But not everyone mentions it... I wanna see people post reactions :)

I had to youtube this after you asked me and I wondered what I missed, and it turns out I did miss something scary!

...her in the nusery basement, she fell forward and died on her front, face down. I heard the prepper say about scanning her but I was already doing it, got a shriek but that was it. Youtube'ing it, I realise that I missed her last breath and the awful howl. Not my fault the shotgun blew the shit out of her

    :D

  10. So the GAME shop in Stratford Westfield (arguably their flagship store, certainly in London) have started advertising the game already, running videos at the shop entrance!!......slight issue, they are playing Monster Hunter 3 Tri videos, advertising it for the Wii. If I could post a face palm gif I would. Utterly abject, who the guff is running that place.

Still hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for the game, am a MH virgin like a few of the posters on here have said, 3DS will be where I put the ground work in, Wii U where the online destruction of worlds will commence. Or whatever it is you do on Monster Hunter ;)

  11. Never played Mario Golf, was it any good? Still, would take a proper Mario Tennis sequel any day over this one... (HINT FRIGGIN' HINT NINTENDO)

Never played Mario Golf?! You haven't lived!! ;) it's a shame really because now a days if I had wanted a golf game when starting to become interested in it, tiger woods would be the easiest one to pick up and play. But fate decided Mario Golf 64 was that game for me, and what a game it is! Copies of any of the entries are probably quite rare, but golf 64 is on the Wii VC, so would recommend giving it a bash if either golf takes your fancy, or you quite like solo player skill games :) (sounds bizarre, but even in multiplayer it's very much a solo experience in terms of any mistake you make is yours and no one else's!)

  12. I dont want the Wii U to get it as well. Generally nintendo hardware should have its own software and only in a few occasions should we see the same game released for both systems.

Agreed, if it would be the same game. If however there were benefits to having both (unlocking new courses/modes/characters etc) and being able to use 3DS as controller (am I just describing Monster Hunter 3 here?!) then I would be all 'fore' (apologies) it!

...But then I am a Mario Golf whore.

  13. Yeah I agree to an extent, just happy to be getting more Mario Golf but a Wii U version would have been nice, very nice actually, Toadstool Tour is still a staple of drunken nights in (and out) with my mates, so an update is due! Perhaps a Wii U version is in the works too, with connectivity with this one...what dreams may come!

My only concern is that it doesn't follow the formula of Mario Tennis 3DS, which as much as I enjoyed it was a very shallow experience, I found I traded it in far too early than I would have liked, so I hope there is some sort of RPG mode to lengthen the experience. But who am I kidding, I would buy it for £39.99 if it was just one course and Mario the only playable character...
