  1. Graphics driver update lost HDMI sound :(

You could do a System Restore in that case. Might fuck up more or get your normal sound stuff working again. I hope it helps. In the case of your Realtek sound driver I actually meant you should just reinstall it without an uninstallation prior to it. But seeing how it seemed to create more problems than it solved you should probably leave it alone if you can fix it. Did you also consider installing the older graphics driver, when HDMI used to work? In that case you have to uninstall the current one, which can be a bit tricky but there are plenty of tutorials on the web.
  2. Graphics driver update lost HDMI sound :(

Try reinstalling your soundcard driver, maybe it helps. Else you could always reinstall the ATi driver; maybe you didn't check an option or something went wrong.
  3. General Movie Thread

    Fucking awesome news!
  4. Gamecube games in original resolution

I think your TV is responsible for the stretching. As far as I can tell the Wii doesn't resize the games, you could easily find out if it's the Wii or the TV by changing the settings in the wii options to a 4:3 display; if everything is still stretched it's the TV's fault. Also take a look at your TV remote. Usually there's a button to quickly change the scaling; you shouldn't have to go through lots of menus for that.
  5. [Spoiler-Free] Zelda: Skyward Sword

That gold coloured wii-mote will look great with my white nunchuk controller. Still awesome though, now how about a golden nunchuck controller?
  6. Funny Stuff Thread

Interesting, cleverbot seemed to remember quite a lot of the conversation. Usually he doesn't remember much more than the last line or the one before that. Brilliant idea to get other people to step out of the way:
  7. Halo 4

Yes, Guilty Spark was that orb thing. Actually all of humanity are considered reclaimers and fulfill the genetic properties to be allowed to operate Forerunner technology (or something like that).
  8. Mass Effect 3

The model of the blonde won but there was another poll about the haircolour afterwards, hence the redhead.
  9. Professional qualifications

From what I've gather it can be helpful to have done some internships when applying for a job and in some cases the company where you were an intern might also like to keep you. But I have little idea of how it is since I'm still studying.
  10. Yeah. Same goes for the Terminator. All you need is a leather jacket and sunglasses. Stuff some socks down your top for biceps. Oh wait... leather jackets are expensive aren't they... oops. If this was meant as a passive aggressive hint that suits are expensive, I was well aware of that. But as some people happen to have leather jackets in their closets so do some people happen to have suits. If I misinterpreted your comment just ignore this
  11. Dress as Agent Smith, you just need a suit and an earpiece... oh and sunglasses, don't forget the sunglasses
  12. Have i messed up my tv screen!?

According to this report from Philips it shouldn't be permanent on an LCD but it might take a few hours to alliviate the effect.
  13. Special / Visual Effects

I think with CGI it's much more dependent on the studio and art direction than technology itself. A superior graphics engine can of course produce better results but if the artists create a sterile world it's an unconvincing world with excellent lighting, which doesn't make it any better. For instance the german movie "Traumschiff Surprise" had a budget of about 10 million Euros but the special effects look convincing none the less. Then again I recently watched Star Wars Episode 2 and in the beginning where they chase the assassin I felt I was looking at a very long ingame cutscene (not because it didn't look real but somehow unconvincing); the same goes for a large part of Avatar.
  14. IGN: Mario Games Haven't Evolved

The way I understand it he seems to be complaining about the price. He's reasoning that you can get downloadable games on PSN, XBLA and Steam for a lower price than a Nintendo platformer (which plays like classic Nintendo platformers) although more work went into them. Please mind this is not my opinion but how I understand his.
  15. If Catwoman is riding the bat-pod does this make it the cat-pod? :P
  16. Falling Skies

Wow, episode 8 was pretty crazy. Two plot things I absolutely did not expect.
  17. General Movie Thread

I don't know if it's been posted before but here's the first trailer for the movie Battleship - yes based on the game. I burst out laughing when they tried to "explain" the limited battlefield.
  18. RAM

Actually Intel recommends using 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM, see here. I have CORSAIR DDRAM3 4GB CL9 TW3X4G1333C9A with my i5 2500 if this is any help.
  19. Sea Monster Found in Scotland

This also struck me as quite odd. Maybe they hired Photoshop experts.
  20. N-E Picture Caption Game

They decided to go for the classic by drawing penises all over their friend's homework.
  21. Halo Anniversary

Silent Cartographer Campaign Demo Shows the tech and changes a bit. While the new graphics look nice I can't help but feel they deviated quite a bit from Bungie's style. Also although the soldier, gun and dropship (and probably more) models are taken from Halo Reach I still feel they don't quite fit and should have gone for the Halo 3 models instead.
  22. Falling Skies

The pilot episode didn't leave me very excited but the following ones really moved forward at a fast pace. I particularly like how they try to study the enemy. I couldn't help but think of Starship Troopers though and that this would probably be the scenario if the bugs overwhelmed humanity.
  23. Mass Effect 3

Indeed this really sucks. But if the extra mission and character are similarly important as in ME2 (Crash Site and Zaeed) I think I'll give the CE a miss this time. That was absolutely not worth the price.
  24. Birthday? Should be Fezday, to be fair ...

    Happy Birthday, guys.
  25. Wii U secondary display: GO!

I am hoping for a return of simulations. Usually they require lots of buttons for all the specific things and the touchscreen should be able to provide them. If the camera in the controller could do headtracking it would also be possible to look around the game world for instance in racing games - looking into the side-mirror by turning the head would be nice and have the touchscreen as a dashboard or whatever.
