  1. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

The leader of UKIP ended up looking a total twunt on the politics show, arrogant, flippant, didn't know what was in his manifesto, seemed outraged the interviewer was actually asking him about polices that were in the manifesto (probably because they all seemed like news to him and he had no idea how to defend them), absolute pillock. Edit: Actually, here it is Please, anyone who is even flirting with the idea of voting UKIP please watch this and see the utter dickhead you'd be voting for.

Sure enough, the media backlash against the lib dems is starting with gusto http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1267628/General-Election-2010-Its-time-voters-wake-real.html
  4. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

In the event we actually soldier on indefinitely with a hung parliament, yes. But more likely Labour, having won the least amount of votes, would be in far the best position to try and form a government. Here's an excellent article on what the current polls would mean if theyh translated into votes. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/apr/17/1

: peace: Nice of Plymouth to play "We are the Champions" for us when we'd just relegated them, fair play
  6. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

How is a UKIP vote going to cut your taxes when they're planning on spending an absolute fuckload more than even their own inflated figure of how much leaving the EU would save the country? Their manifesto is all populist stuff like increase the defense budget 40% which no actual indication of how they're going to pay for it. As for the Lib Dem standing in the polls, even if those were the numbers in the election (33% Lib Dem, 32% Tory, 28% Labour or whatever the latest one was)they'd still have the least seats of the 3 main parties.

Used to really rate N'Zogbia, even though he'd mope aroudn the pitch for a while you always felt that when he had the ball something could happen and he always went forwards and tried to make soemthing out of it, even if he ran down some blind alleys. Bramble was always prone to high profile gaffes, but he got better during his time here. I remember Liverpool fans cheering when we brought him on against them and he proceeded to play an absolute blinder. I really liked Milner as well, mostly because he always put 100% in so I was sad to see him go. He wasn't all that popular amongst the fans though, mainly because in spite of being a winger his crossing got worse and worse every game. Given looks great on highlight reels and there's no doubt he's a top quality shot stopper who pulls out hollywood saves. But his basics are poor for some reason, his distribution was crap, he never seemed to talk to his defenders and he was terrified of coming off his line.

Haha, Toon rejects to the rescue against the Gunners! Good old Titus and Charlie.
  10. Football Season 2009/2010

Pretty sure Man U had games in hand when we were 12 points clear. Wasn't really so much Newcastle throwing it away as Man U going on an amazing run and only dropping about 5 points from then till the end of the season. In the 5-0 the scorers were Peacock, Ginola, Ferdinand, Shearer and Albert. Andy Cole had been sold to Man U about 2 years earlier, so I dunno where this idea he scored 4 against them came from :P

Cracking article by George Caulkin in the Times the other day In defence of the North East Well worth a read, especially points 1. and 2.

Don't like the Tory plan of tax breaks for married couples, talk about a nanny state. "Get married and be the kind of family the government wants you to be or we'll fine you" basically.
  13. Election 2010 - Con/Lib Government

Sounds a lot like the unfounded half-truth scaremongering and outright lies I saw in a youtube video not too long ago, which Snopes did a rather good job of debunking http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/demographics.asp You'll notice there's a similar statistic about the Netherlands - this time claiming that 50% of all new borns are muslim. That would mean that the Muslims who account for 5.8% of the population would each have to be having 14-16 times more babies than anyone else. Does that sound reasonable to you? It's like when you hear statistics saying "x out of every x boy born in x is called Mohammed", something which demonstrates that Muslims aren't particularly imaginitive when it comes to naming their kids more than it does that they're breeding like something out of Alien, with little eggs unleashing millions of scary foreigners scuttling out to clamp onto the face of poor whitey.

Hear his excuse was that he thought she was going to beat him with a carton of orange juice, he should have taken that Monty Python self-defence course. Can see what's going through his mind when she says "I'm a woman!" "Oh yeah, the small ones with the weak legs, thanks" - WACK!
  16. Football Season 2009/2010

Jose Enrique is the best left back since Paolo Maldini and I have an enormous man-crush on him. That is all.
  17. Football Season 2009/2010

No exaggeration to say Newcastle could have beaten Scunthorpe 10-0 last night, had two goals disallowed and we could have been 6-0 up in the first 25 minutes. Four points clear of West Brom with 10 better goal difference and a game in hand, 12 points clear of Forest with a game in hand and 23 better goal difference. So, in my opinion...
  18. Football Season 2009/2010

See Gerrard's going to get away with digging Brown in the back of the head, much like he got away with flicking the Vs at the ref last week, chinning that DJ and, now that Drogba's doing it less, being probably the worst diver in the league. Makes sense though, the FA don't need any more England players with problems. Dunno where Liverpool fans get singing "He's fucking hard" from, soft shite makes a meal of every tackle and goes down like a sack of spuds if he feels a faint breeze.
  19. Football Season 2009/2010

18 goals in our last 4 home games. Canny, that.
  20. Football Season 2009/2010

Michael Owen out for the season. Well done to the person who started a poll on a Newcastle message board at the start of December with these three options
  21. Football Season 2009/2010

Feel slightly sorry for Villa, then remember when I was at Villa Park on the last game of the season and the sad bastards had made banners about us going down and I think fuck it, hope at least the little herbets who were pathetic enough to do that are in floods of tears and kicking the hell out of each other. Sob on the Tyne? Blub in the Brum
  22. Football Season 2009/2010

Another good home win for the toon, 12 goals in our last 3 home matches. If only we could take that kind of form on the road.
  23. Football Season 2009/2010

Can't decide if it's that or if Liverpool's form earlier on made them think "Oh no, what if one of the big four finish fifth in the coming seasons? We must give them another chance or all the foreign glory hunters might lose interest and start following another league."
  24. Football Season 2009/2010

But even with the trend for the big clubs resting players, aside from Portsmouth you've got to go back 15 years for an FA cup winner that wasn't Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal. What happens if one of the top three win the FA Cup? Either you give it to fourth place, in which case almost every season will still be the top four getting into the champion league, or you give it to the team that lost in the final, which means the semi final would be the big game for a non-top four sideand winning or losing the final is pretty much acedemic because they've already got the new "prize" (That's assuming the final isn't between two top four clubs anyway) Absurd wages I think. West Ham, Southampton, Pompey, saggy face has left a trail of financial destruction wherever he goes - hope that means Spurs are next
  25. Football Season 2009/2010

Probably wouldn't have won the cup, seeing as how the bigger teams would have taken it much more seriously and no-one would field weaker teams if there was a CL spot on offer at the end.
