  1. Nintendo Direct: E3 2018

Here's a bit of a prediction: Steep for Switch has been quietly canceled, BUT the progress made on that port has been reworked into a new game which will be branded as a 1080 Snowboarding sequel. A guess taken slightly out of thin air, but I think it's not too unlikely considering Mario + Rabbids happened last year.
  2. Shenmue 1&2 HD (PC/PS4/Xbox One)

Had this come out for the Switch, it would've been a day one purchase. I might get the Steam version if there'll be an active modding community.
  3. Sega Ages (Summer M2)

Definitely excited for Saturn and Dreamcast games on the Switch. Imagine Burning Rangers at 1080p/60fps with modern shaders. Or Metropolis Street Racer with realtime lighting, shadows and reflections and a contemporary car roster.
  4. Wireless N64 controllers?

They do exist. I recall GAME used to sell them here in Sweden before they went out of business. Apparently the stick quality was even worse than on first party units, though.
  5. Arms

There's no thread for this game, so I thought I'd make one. My impressions are: quite pretty graphics, seems like fun, but I sort of have the sneaking suspiscion that if you don't want to play it online, it'll have a very limited life span.
  6. Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy

Never played these games back in the day and considered getting it for my PS4. Definitely a game I'm going to get for the Switch
  7. No More Heroes: Travis Touchdown Strikes Again

It's top down... I'm very sceptical.
  8. South Park: The Fractured But Whole

I'm really pleased with this. Enjoyed Stick of Truth a whole lot, I believe I was like 1 item short of 100%'ing it.
  9. Payday 2

OMG, my fave FPS of the past few years is Switch bound! Hope that you can transfer your Steam DLC to the Switch version.
  10. The Switch has done extremely well during the launch period. In some parts of the world it's done better than the Wii. And with a more solid lineup for the first eight months than we've seen in a VERY long time, everything seems to be going well. But on the flipside, there are lot's and lot's of reports of problems. Controller desync problem Poor Wifi connections Straps getting stuck if put on the wrong joycon Docks stratching screens Dead pixels Completely ruined screens While none of these flaws are catastrophic, putting them all together paints a somewhat grim picture. I'm not the best person to judge, but I wonder if this isn't going to hurt sales of the system. None of these seem to be errors that could be solved with a patch, instead it seems more likely that Nintendo need to get back to the drawing board and redesign certain factors of the system. To release a revised Switch sooner than later. Potentially, I feel they might have to recall and replace people's joycons. What are your thoughts? Can Nintendo just ride this one out? Or do they need to panic and fix the flaws at any cost?
  11. So a big problem with Nintendo systems for quite a long time has been third party support. Many people claim that the Switch success or failure in large part depends on if it'll be able to hold true on the promise of AAA games on the go... something that's heavily dependent on third party support. A big reason for the lacking third party support is due to such games selling poorly on Nintendo systems. We have Need for Speed Most Wanted U, Wonderful 101 and Splinter Cell all having absolutely appalling sales of about 30k sold copies during their first month on the system, and Ubisoft claiming that Wii U sales only stood for single digit percentages of revenue from games available for that system. I hoped that this would change with the Switch. However, after today's Nintendo Direct presentation, I'm not so certain. Payday 2, one of the best and best selling FPS games of the past few years gets announced. A game so popular that the developer bought out a third party studio just to continue making DLC for it until at least the end of next year. I create a thread on this forum to talk about it and... noone responds. I check the Nintendo Direct thread and barely anyone even mentions it. And it's not unique to this forum either. I've checked a few other forums and for the most part, noone cares. The point of this post isn't to bash those who like different types of games. Or point out who buys what and what he or she as an individual are responsible for. The point is to discuss an issue. I know that a port of a four year old game isn't the most exciting thing in the world. Certainly not as exciting as Mass Effect Andromeda or the next GTA. But sales of the games that DO come out dictate what support the machine will receive in the future. So what I feel we must discuss is... Is third party support something we really want, so that we can play more games on the Switch? Or are we just asking because high profile games on the Switch would please our fanboy egos? Why don't "we" support third party developers? What can we do to make sure that third parties stay on the machine?
  12. Slim Switch case?

So I'm going to get a Switch soon, and I intend to play it on the bus to work. So the question is, what carry cases do you recommend? Most of the ones I've seen are monstrously big, sort of defeating the purpose of having such a portable machine. I just want to bring my console with me, with joycons. No dock needed. Cheers
  13. Metroid Prime 4 (Switch)

For Shenmue III, we've actually seen some art assets and concept footage. Anyways, I'm hyped for this, although I'm of the (probably) controversial opinion that it'd be great if they'd use the right stick to look around, rather than changing weapons/visors.
  14. Kirby 2018 (Switch)

A gorgeous 2D game can be refreshing once in a while. But it's hardly anything that gets a wide audience hyped. It never holds a candle to Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout, Final Fantasy or Gran Turismo. The console-selling potential of these games is nigh-on zero. And my "logical jump" is hardly surreal. Let's look at the new Switch announcements this E3. Kirby Yoshi Metroid Prime 4 Pokémon. The two latter are so far into the future that there's not even a proper teaser for them. So... yeah, this is something they're making to fill what's likely to be a massive gap in the 2018 lineup. A hole Nintendo were probably expecting third parties would fill. No chance in hell that two 2D games at the same E3 is a coincidence. And Nintendo know that these games have zero potential to be system sellers. They're very obviously damage control, because they didn't have anything else that could be churned out fast enough. Sorry, but a reveal of any long-dormant 3D franchise would've done more for the Switch than these two games put together.
  15. Kirby 2018 (Switch)

Well, that's the point. The over-abundance of unimpressive 2D stuff did very little to compensate for the lack of AAA content on the Wii U. So the question is: why are Nintendo doing the same with the Switch? Seriously, don't tell me that you don't think that a realistic looking, thoroughly up to date Waverace or Excitebike with great online functionality and impressive physics wouldn't do more to boost the appeal of the Switch than two sequels to poorly received Wii U games. This isn't E3-grade stuff. It doesn't hold a candle to anything that anyone else showed off. It's middle-of-october-Nintendo-Direct grade stuff.
  16. They should've made it for both. Or scrapped the Kirby game and remade Super Metroid for the Switch and make this for the 3DS. In genereal, I think it's a crying shame Nintendo don't seem to want to port more of their 3DS games for the Switch. Would LOVE to buy HD versions of the N64 ports. Just imagine a single pack containing OoT, MM and SF64 with the enhanced 3DS graphics, in HD and with a few tasty shaders thrown on for good measure
  17. Hope it'll be like other 3D RPG's, and ditch the top-down camera. Would love to look out into the distance like in Zelda. This may actually be the first Pokémon since Blue for me, I kid you not!
  18. Kirby 2018 (Switch)

Holy shit, since when are people agreeing with me on this?
  19. Metroid Prime 4 (Switch)

I like the sound of that. Considering Switch isn't getting ANY FPS games, I hope there'll be a spiritual successor to Perfect Dark/Timesplitters.
  20. Why is this exclusively on the 3DS? Seriously, cancel the Kirby game, then have them port this for the Switch. And announce that Nintendo have officially filled their quota of 2D and minigame compilations for this gen... or at least the rest of the decade.

  22. Kirby 2018 (Switch)

Looks OK. Just how that this isn't an indication that Nintendo are reverting to their old ways and start churning out cheap 2D filler to be able to deny the presence of droughts. Am definitely not getting it, however.
  23. Rocket League (Switch)

I got it for cheap on Steam a while ago and haven't actually played it yet. Am probably getting this version.
  24. Metroid Prime 4 (Switch)

What exactly have Retro been doing for the past four years?
  25. Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017

Overall a good presentation. But seriously, after four years, all Retro have to show is a logo and info that MP4 is "in development"? And wow, that piss poor third party support. I was hoping it would pick up during the coming year, but apparently not...
