I only recently found out they added voices to the boss and some other characters in Mario Advance/SMB2 which is surreal. The games are up now on NSO btw.

How did that pass you by! Thanks for the heads up. Think the only one of these I didn't get a lend of on GBA was Mario World, so I had a quick blast on it... MY EARS! And I don't mean the voices; the music wasn't coming through well at all. Jumping felt a bit off too so I was down to one life before I even got to the yellow switch palace. Might play it a bit more to see if I can get used to it but I reckon the SNES version will remain the way to go unless there's something worthwhile to unlock on the GBA by doing every stage with Mario and Luigi plus collecting all the dragon coins (twice?), since this is tracked.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land It's Kirby's first full 3D adventure! You'd think that would be enough of a selling point, but nah. This game also features Mouthful Mode, a slightly disturbing ability Kirby gets where he can wrap his body around inanimate objects and gain new abilities depending on what he tries to swallow. This is the game with "Carby", and that's all you need to know. Unlike Star Allies, this Kirby game is much more recent, so the rest of this post will be behind a spoiler tag.

Metroid Prime Remastered is... well, the clue is in the name, isn't it? It's an adventure game played from a first person perspective made by Retro Studios. It was released back in March. You don't need me to tell you that this is one of the critical darlings of the Gamecube Era. Loads of people speak highly of it. Me? It's good, but I feel it's the weakest of the Metroid Prime games. I prefer 2 and 3. For the sake of not repeating myself, because I have definitely talked about this game before, I'm gonna focus on the differences that this remastered version offers. The game features more standardised controls that you'd expect from a first person game. Thankfully, the game also offers gyro aiming options, so that's me satisfied... Mostly. You see, because the right stick handles where Samus is pointing her arm cannon, it's no longer used to change what beam you're using, instead you hold X, and then press the corresponding direction on the D-Pad. Visor switching is still done by just pressing the D-Pad. This just doesn't feel as fluid as how the Gamecube game handles it. It also doesn't feel nearly as fluid as how the Wii Trilogy handles it. (Holding - or +, then moving the pointer towards what you want to switch to) It is an unavoidable situation here, but I never got used to it, it feels clunky. A weird thing that is omitted from the Trilogy that would've helped was the ability to tap the beam/visor button to revert back to the Power Beam. It wouldn't completely solve it, but it'd help. The other thing that irks me is the brightness of the game. It's really dark. Like, really dark. Even in rooms that aren't meant to be hard to see in, I found it hard to see at times. Shooting your beam doesn't light up the environment in this version, so you can't do that to help things. Other then that? It does look gorgeous. It's a really massive glow-up compared to the non HD versions. But I can't really see myself choosing to play this version in the future. The Trilogy version on WiiU will still be my preferred method of playing it. I mean, come on, Remastered doesn't even have the Fusion Suit. Xenoblade Chronicles still holds the "Switch remaster" crown. That's a really great example. Also, I played through Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap after @Dcubed booted up the Master System version, which is literally the worst thing you can do.

New Game Boy Advance titles added to Nintendo Switch Online May 2023 Now up on the main page. - - - - - These are interesting ports of the original NES/SNES games, the first title is well worth playing if you've never played Super Mario Bros. 2... the port of Super Mario World has extra content, but it's down to preference as to whether you'd choose this version or the original, and the same with Yoshi's Island, as it has extra content, but probably a few differences between it and the original SNES release. Still, good to have some new GBA games on the service, which means Kirby should be the next GBA game to be released... some time within the next month or two.

Don't look at me, Metroid Prime is the easy answer for this. And quite frankly, I'm gonna use this opportunity to shill a game I love. Awwww yeah! That's the good shiz! Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, for your info, is a remake of an old Master System game, redone to astonishingly high standard with a drop dead gorgeous hand drawn style. I'm not joking when I say it's one of the best looking games on the Switch. There's a gallery that adds various pieces of concept art, concept animations, and even footage of audio recordings as you play the game. It's very in depth, and I'm a sucker for these kind of things. Piranha Man and Wonder Boy looking completely wrong there Some pages providing the Master System sprites and some different designs for the hand drawn versions. Wonder Boy designs that were never to be. The mad thing about the last two pictures is that it doesn't look far off from the final product. That's how good this game looks and it's something you don't see in a lot of concept art. Here's an actual screenshot of the finished product.

I always liked DKCR's concept art that you can unlock in the game... Of course, Metroid Prime 1-3's concept art is legendary, but I'll let somebody else post that...

Stick with the SNES original. Every subsequent version of FF6 is worse than the SNES original. These are the versions I would personally recommend for FF1-6... FF1 = GBA or PSP FF2 = GBA or PSP FF3 = Pixel Remaster (The DS 3D remake is a very different game that is horrendously balanced and face punchingly hard. PR is your only option for playing the original 2D game in English) FF4 = PSP (The GBA version is also ok... but ONLY the European release, the US version is crippled by horrible bugs, of which most, but not all, were fixed in the EU release. Like FF3 DS, the 3D DS remake is a very different game compared to the original, and was balanced with nothing but pure spite and malice towards the player) FF5 = GBA FF6 = SNES
