  1. Indie Games

I'm a bit late on this one, but I just wanted to say that I think Invisible Inc. is a fantastic game. I played the heck out of it on Steam and was following it from early access all the way through. Hopefully it's a good port as you need to be able to view the rooms easily from different angles to figure out your next move. It's very satisfying when you complete a mission, having agonised over the right strategy. The first few levels are fairly easy and you do get a couple of chances in the game to rewind a turn, which can be helpful when make a move only to get that gut-wrenching feeling when you realise you've made a complete hash of it and are about to get shot.

That looked great until I saw that Bose doesn't support aptX so there may be substantial lag. I have Bose QuietComfort 35 IIs so may hold fire until there are more reviews of people using it with Bose headphones. For now, I'll just keep the cable in my Switch case for when I want sound.
  3. Switch eShop Thread

Finally got Mario Kart at the sale price. I was determined not to pay £50 for a game I played on the Wii U.
  4. MERRY CHRISTMAAAAASSSS!

Merry Christmas N-Europers! Hope you've all had a great day. My partner and I are at my parents with extended family visiting on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Being with my niece and nephew all day was fun but exhausting (I don't have kids). I got no gaming-related gifts but we got a Le Creuset casserole dish from my mum and dad (rock and roll, but then I am in my 40s and love cooking).
  5. Fitness Boxing

I tried the demo at the weekend and it seems pretty decent so I'll no doubt buy it. The trial exercises are a bit basic, so hopefully the full version will have more challenging combos that give you a proper workout. It's essentially Wii Fit style boxing with the usual calendar and fitness tracker tools. I think it will do the job nicely but isn't pushing any boundaries. Yes, you can game the system with small joy-con movements, but the only person you'd be cheating is yourself and more importantly your body ;). Playing this makes me realise how much I miss Wii Sports.
  6. Switch eShop Thread

I'll deffo be picking up Katamari Damarcy, one of my favourite games on PS2. Will probably get Donut Country too.
  7. General Switch Discussion

I found that connecting to 5GHz made a huge difference. I can only use the 5GHz in the room where my router is (fortunately in the front room where my Switch is also), but I was getting terrible performance on 2.4GHz when playing Arena of Valor, which was massively improved when I switched bands. I'd go ethernet but I've run out of sockets on my router so would be plugging and unplugging all the time.
  8. Fitness Boxing

I do some boxing training IRL, so I'm up for a bit of extra exercise in between classes. I've downloaded the demo but have a bad back right now so can't try it yet. Thanks for the info on the game functions. I'm pleased to see that it's not over-complicated. "Boxercise" type classes are very simple - mostly throwing high punches, jabs, crosses, hooks and uppercuts in a combo to music. We also use knees, elbows and kicks but I'm guessing the game only covers regular boxing, not kick boxing.
  9. Switch Gaming Bargains Thread

Must have been a flash sale as it's back up to £41.99 now. Shame as I'm in the market for this but not at full price. Not that I need any more games at the moment as I'm playing about 5 right now and have Civ VI arriving today.
  10. Switch eShop Thread

I've been meaning to play Grim Fandango for years so was delighted to see this in the eShop last night. Bought it straight away so hoping to play over the weekend.
  11. Switch Gaming Bargains Thread

Raking up an old thread, but as I'm a fairly new Switch owner I'm in the market for deals on the back catalogue. Argos has LA Noire for £17.99 at the moment, which seems a good price. I've seen it for much more elsewhere (including in the eShop) and as I already played it on PS3 I wasn't prepared to pay above £20 for it. Should be good for a second play through at that price though. They are selling Lego City Undercover £20 too. I never completed it on WiiU so I might be up for a second go at that as well. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7594313
  12. Splatoon 2

I went for Team Treat and would be up for some games.
  13. General Switch Discussion

I also haven't posted on here in years. I haven't used the forum much since the Wii days but do pop back from time to time to see what's going on here. I only bought a Switch a couple of weeks back so have lots of Nintendo goodness to catch up on. It's taken me a while to prioritise getting a Switch over other pulls on my disposable income, but I work away for a couple of days a fortnight and being able to take it with me to play when I'm on my own in my Airbnb was the clincher. I find the decline of the online forum quite depressing. I was a member (and moderator) of a forum for my local area for years through the 00s. This year, I went to the wedding of a friend I made through that forum and this weekend, I'm going to the 60th birthday party of the partner of another friend I made through it. Now everyone on the forum has migrated to a Facebook group and it's just not the same. Conversations are fragmented and people post the same questions over and over again because there's no coherent thread layout and it's hard to search the archive. It's even more full of trolls than the online forum ever was. I was also a member of a forum for guitarists. I went on a weekend away with them one year - they still do an annual trip, but lifestyle changes mean I struggle to service all my hobbies (as some posters above have found too). Traditional forums are great and I find it hard to think of good things to say about the likes of Twitter and Facebook to be honest. However, times change I guess. Maybe now I've got a new Nintendo console I'll post a bit more often :).
  14. Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers

Got fed up of waiting for Game to dispatch the order I placed yesterday, so I cancelled. We have an Argos over the road from my office so me and a colleague nipped over and got one apiece. Bit annoying paying the extra fiver, but at least I can play it tonight. To be honest, I wasn't that fussed for this game until I saw the video, but was hooked after that. This and Smash Bros have inspired me to dust off my Wii U.
  15. PC Gaming Discussion

It's definitely improved a bit since the beta. I'm no MMORPG expert, so the fact that it's so similar to Skyrim is a plus for me as it makes the learning curve easier. I'm still getting to grips with the MMO elements - have applied to join my first guild, so we'll see how that works out. I'm also happy to take it slowly and just explore lots. Not really that interested in how quickly I can reach level 50. I'm still at level 4 and completing the starter island quests. They seem to have added some better items earlier in the game than were present in the beta, which should help with crafting progression. It's a bit having to redo a load of quests I already completed in the beta but the fact that I know what to do in those quests means I can concentrate on getting to grips with other elements of the game. So far, so good.
